REDEFINE + RESHAPE + TRANSFORM<
Convergence of Planetarium Enthusiasts
Planetarium technology is showing accelerated exponential growth in revolutionizing educational outreach. Its future trends will no doubt redefine, reshape and transform the way Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is brought to the general public in the coming years.
Swami Vivekananda Planetarium at Pilikula is organizing the First Pilikula International Full-Dome Film Festival and Planetarium Conference, which will be held during November 6 to 8, 2019 at Pilikula. This flagship event is organized by the Pilikula Regional Science Centre Society and Karnataka Science and Technology Promotion Society (KSTePS), Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka in association with M/s. infovision, Mumbai and Evans & Sutherland, USA.
The focal theme for the Conference is aptly chosen as “Trends in Planetarium Technology”. The event spectrum includes conference sessions for targeted groups of academicians and planetarium professionals as well as full- dome shows (multiple shows) for the general public and students. In addition, several outreach activities for the student community of different age groups are also being organized.
The keynote talks and distinguished presentations will be made by nationally and internationally acclaimed speakers in the conference. A large number of producers, both national and international repute, will be participating in the full-dome festival. The entry for the conference sessions is for planetarium professionals, science centre curators and astronomy practitioners, while the entry for full dome festival is for the general public and is based on online registration.
Please block your calendar at the earliest as there will be a big demand for the entry to the full dome festival. It will be an open platform, providing an opportunity for the general public to witness the planetarium shows on any one of the three days through prior online registration.
